For many years I have been to every high end salon I heard of from Shadyside, to Downtown Pittsburgh, to Zelienople in search of anyone who could style and manage my course, heavy cowlick hair. With no luck and as a last resort I decided to purchase a wig, a good one. That’s when I fell upon A Head of the Times salon, a small, unassuming friendly place where two generations of kind, caring highly skilled and qualified stylists took me under their wing and proceeded to explain the whys, hows and what ifs of my hair.
They explained and answered all of my questions and concerns, they proceeded with caution and today I am the happiest I have ever been with the look, feel and health of my hair. Each stylist is an expert in one or more particular processes and on any trip you may see two different people for different services, kind of a custom care appointment customized to my needs. So stop running around and give the stylists at A Head of the Times a try. They will give you their undivided attention for your hair care needs. This is the only salon who listens to me and when you leave you are sure to look like yourself and not the person walking out the door before you.
I recently had a body wave for lift and I have to say it was the first time my hair did not feel burned on the ends wonderful, just wonderful.

Not quite sure how many years I have been going to A Head of the Times but I will always remember my first contact with Kathie. Out of complete frustration with my hair I began my search for a new stylist. I have very fine hair and not a lot of it so I focused my search on a stylist that specialized in thinning hair. A woman answered my first phone call. She was the owner. Her shop was closed for the day but she seemed genuinely interested in hearing about my issues. I explained my hair concerns. She asked me several questions and I could tell very quickly that she understood. I felt comfortable that she could help me. I scheduled my first appointment within the week.
My hair today is so much healthier than I could have ever hoped for. My style is perfect for my hair type and face which makes me very happy. I appreciate that Kathie offers styling tips and suggests products which translate for me into thicker, shinier, and more manageable hair. Kathie’s support staff is wonderful. Carol applies my color professionally, patiently answers my questions, and anticipates my needs with a warm and compassionate smile. Marie keeps the appointments straight and everyone and everything moving smoothly, also with a smile. I couldn’t be happier to have found such a wonderful stylist and salon. Although I consider myself a new comer to” A Head of the Times” I can truly state that Kathie, Carol and Marie made me feel right at home when I first walked through the door. The professional treatment and knowledge of all three is conducted in a manner where you feel like part of their family. Heredity had done me no favor when it came to my thinning hair. I had tried expensive hair transplants but the results were disappointing and shaving my head was way too bizarre for me. My personal, social, professional and athletic lifestyle required a natural look. I met with Kathie and she escorted me through the simple and realistic process for the return to a natural looking head of hair. She listened to me and my expectations and then created a unique solution for my hair loss problem. We discussed and agreed upon style, length, and color. When it was cut-in (on my head, in a barber’s chair) my expectations were exceeded. My family, colleagues, and teammates complimented me on my youthful look.
